Thoughts on my broken car?
You say "It's not consistent, either."
You say "For example, currently, the light for the radio turns on when I try
and start the car, and the heater runs. However, the clock does not display
and the radio only plays static. Also, the internal lights do not work but
the external lights do."
You say "This is identical to what happened when it died in the street that
night."
You say "However, after I picked it up, I stopped one day to get gas. The car
drove fine, except that the light for the clock did not function, and the
radio didn't play at all, not even static."
You say "That went away as soon as I parked; I tried the engine curiously and
everything came on fine."
You say "Previous to the stop in the street, nothing would turn on, although
the engine would continue to turn over. Eventually, left alone and dry for
a day or two or three, it would start again."
You say "Oh, and the power door locks don't work."
You say "There seems to be evidence that when it died in the street, it died
literally because it wasn't getting any gasoline, because the fuel pump
stopped working, due to lack of power."

Can you elaborate?

Not really; I just have Male Answer Syndrome.

(Ow. Don't beat me.)

OK, OK. It sounds to my untutored ear like a wiring harness issue, possibly a short somewhere. That would explain why it's sporadic. This is the same sort of symptoms my old Audi had, which in fact turned out to be wiring harness issues.

I have no idea what a wiring harness is, but a short was the first thing I thought of.

See, I had somebody look at it already and he traced the power problem back to a ... fuse board? and part of the fuse board wasn't getting power either and then when he was sitting in the driver's seat taking a break, the car came back to life. He spent more time looking it over, and applied some moisture sealant in places and gave me instructions to keep it as clean and dry as possible.

Maybe you can try writing to those Car Talk guys and asking them for their opinion? It might not help, but it probably can't hurt. :)

Given the type of answer they usually come up with, they're likely to conclude that Chrysoula is possessed of extrasensory powers to kill all things electrical on contact.
